Description

Whaletreads – Our flip flops made of RECYCLED TYRES!  Every pair of flip flops is handmade in Kenya, inspired by the Maasai Warriors who have been using old tyres to make footwear for many years.  The tyre treads are combined with either a plain hemp fabric or soft, stripy kikoy fabric on top which gives them their stylish appeal. Hemp is extremely durable and sustainable, consequently making the treads hard wearing and most importantly, environmentally friendly. Kikoy is the attractive cotton fabric used to make Kenyan sarongs. Finally, the treads have a soft material between the toes for comfort.   Women’s Whaletreads have a thinner strap than the men’s but otherwise they are unisex.  Women’s treads come in a range of sizes UK4 – UK7. For sizes UK8 – UK11 click here to go to the men’s Whaletreads.

Please Note: Every pair is unique so your treads may differ from the image (especially the stripy kikoy ones).
