Just to illustrate the huge issue of plastic pollution in our waterways, The Plastic Monster, (aka Wim Pyl) from Belgium competes in the 5km ‘fun’ race at the L’eau Vive event.
Stand Up Against Plastic
Organised by Le Grand Huit in Joinvile Le Pont, Paris on 13th/14th June, the L’eau Vive event wanted to spread an important message about protecting our environment and trying to be more conscious about our consumption of plastic. The Plastic Monster was a great way to illustrate this. SUP, as a sport is fast becoming associated with protecting our waterways and bringing attention to the problems of plastic pollution. Why? Because when you paddle, sadly it is not long before you witness for yourself, the horrific amount of plastic floating around you. We built our plastic bottle paddle board at the event and launched our marathon expedition to the public to further raise awareness of this global threat.
